The MIL-A-8625 anodizing standard is the model for military and aerospace anodizing that is described in this specification. The standard covers six kinds of anodizing as well as non-architectural anodizing. It also forms the basis for many anodizing specifications that are specific to individual companies. Most of these proprietary specifications feature one or more of the standard requirements. The specification includes broad processing conditions for anodizing as well as important performance and acceptance criteria for such characteristics as coating weight, corrosion resistance, light fastness, paint adhesion, abrasion resistance, and dying. Furthermore, standards are established for appearance, workmanship, markings, process control, and testing.
